Story of Sleipnir

Ástvaldur Óskarsson, called "Valdi Víbon" was traveling in western Canada when he saw a glacier bus for the first time in 1997, about 25 years ago.

"There is a long tradition of driving tourists in such vehicles in the glacier area of Colombia Icefield national park." - he says.

Valdi has built a few glacier trucks, and after one and a half years of design and construction work along with an investment of approximately 100 million ISK, the Sleipnir was born. Multiple attempts were needed to provide maximum safety and comfort.

Now, Sleipnir Truck is proudly roaming on Langjökull - the second biggest glacier in Iceland.

The size of Sleipnir cannot be emphasized enough. The tires themselves are higher than an average man - 78 inches or 2 meters. The entire vehicle is so massive that a typical single-family home seems small in comparison.

Sleipnir is likely the largest glacier bus in the world if not the largest group bus ever built.

Sleipnir has a brother, Sleipnir 2 that is just a bit smaller with 65 inches tires that were created with close cooperation with TATRA manufacturer.
